Body builders and fitness professionals have been using chiropractic in order to stay healthy and fit. Should you be getting adjusted....and why? In addition to serving athletes at the 2009 World Games in Taiwan, in 2010 Chiropractic was fully integrated in caring for athletes at the Olympic games. 77% of the NFL use chiropractic and have one on staff. Baseball pro 's like Mark Texiera use them all the time. Most professional teams employ chiropractors. Long term chiropractic advocate Arnold Schwarzenegger has used chiropractic long before it was in vogue. In the 1930's, Dr. Erle Painter, DC was Babe Ruth's chiropractor and worked on the NY Yankees.
Why is chiropractic so popular among athletes? Chiropractic helps to improve and enhance athletic performance and Chiropractic helps keep athletes on the field and helps to prevent minor injuries from becoming major ones. Fifty athletes were divided into two groups. One group received chiropractic care while the control group did not receive care while the control group did not receive care. They were tested for agility, balance, power, speed and hand reaction time. After 12 weeks, the chiropractic group's improvement was 16.7% including a more then 30% improvement in reaction time! Journal of Chiropractic Research and Clinical Investigations 1991;6(4):84-87 This is only one of many studies on chiropractic and sports enhancement. Hey coach's, need a sports doctor for your team? Many doctors of chiropractic get involved with their local little league, neighborhood and school teams. Why not ask your chiropractor if he or she might be interested in providing chiropractic care to your athletes or sponsoring a team? 7/9/2012 0 Comments Happy Birthday Chiropractic! “Back to the Basics…”
“God breathed into man the breath of life—we add—and left within, a body manager to regulate body functions including reproduction of cells. There is a power within you—you recognize it in others as the ability to move-see-hear-speak breathe. What is this power? Who can answer? We call that power INNATE INTELLIGENCE. You look around you and recognize there is a power that governs and controls the universe and all things in it. You may call it NATURE or you may say it is AN ACT OF GOD. But whatever you choose to call it, you do recognize a FORCE. “Within YOU is a ‘grain’ of the universal power. If there were not, you would cease to move, see, hear, breathe, feel—exist as a HUMAN INTELLIGENT BEING. As long as that power within you has control of your body a state of HEALTH exists. Should something interfere with normal control of that internal power—then you cease to enjoy your birthright—HEALTH—instead a state of dis-ease becomes prominent. “Healing is a process afforded you by your Creator and is above and beyond the control of man. Your Chiropractor does everything possible to help Innate heal—but he cannot heal nor can anyone else produce healing for you. When the right adjustment is made, Innate goes to work. You feel the results when dis-ease turns to ease.” – BJ Palmer Chiropractic's famous first adjustment is recognized each year on Founder's Day, commemorating September 18th, 1895, when Dr. Daniel David Palmer administered his initial specific chiropractic adjustment on Harvey Lillard in Davenport, Iowa. Dr. D.D. Palmer delivered the first chiropractic adjustment with the specific intent of realigning a malpositioned vertebra, restoring its normal position, in an attempt to restore a hearing defect. That attempt, as the world now knows, was successful. From an innovative scientific concept, the science and practice of chiropractic rapidly gained official status through the legislatures of the various states under the authorities reserved to the states in the U.S. Constitution to "regulate the professions and the trades." The legal development of chiropractic began shortly after the initial articulation of chiropractic principles and, by the 1920s, chiropractic was well on the way to formal legal recognition and regulation through licensure in numerous states. 18/5/2012 0 Comments Exercise Grows Your Brain.Suffering from poor circulation, constipation, depression, fatigue, thinning bones, weight gain, or memory loss? These are just a few things that exercise can improve. The newest research shows the surest way to build brain power is by exercising. I know you are busy and you think that you do not need to exercise because you are "running around all day", but the truth is, that is not exercising. Exercise is putting aside time to focus only on moving your body. If you do not know how, start to walk, then seek out a friend who likes to exercise, and exercise with them. I always feel that you cannot push yourself like a personal trainer can, so I am a huge advocate of hiring a personal trainer. After a couple of sessions, you will start to see the changes in your body, your sleep, your anxiety levels and after a few months you will see it on your blood work. So start moving! Below is a great article, please read it.
http://fitness.mercola.com/sites/fitness/archive/2012/05/18/exercise-benefits-brain-health.aspx?e_cid=20120518_DNL_art_1# We chiropractors think it is ironic that health care is called "health care". What you are buying is "sick" care. You go to the medical doctor when you are sick and have symptoms.
Health care should be used for healthy choices that keep you from getting sick, i.e. the gym, massage, chiropractic adjustments, yoga, prayer and good food. I know a secret! If you maintain your health, maintain your spinal alignment, keep pressure off nerves, eat well, sleep well and exercise.....this is health care, this is what chiropractic is. Hippocrates, the father of medicine stated: "Look well to the spine for the cause of disease". If you maintain your spine and live a healthy chiropractic lifestyle, you will find that health follows.
